I got an email this morning that tickets for the Zola Jesus show at the Hollywood Forever Masonic Lodge go on sale this Friday. After hearing Avalanche (Slow) in the latest Big Sonic Heaven podcast I’m pretty excited to hear her live accompanied by a String Quartet, in the fall, at a beautiful location. Last May Zola Jesus performed at another beautiful location, the Guggenheim. The performance was part of a live music series which was a part of the John Chamberlain:Choices exhibit. She looked like a work of art herself, wearing all white with a lit up boa around her neck. I’m including a video below. Anyway, she performed reinterpretations of her songs composed by J.G. Thirlwell (Foetus) and backed by the Mivos Quartet. The studio recordings of the arrangements will be released August 20th on Sacred Bones Records. It’s titled Versions and you can pre-order it on iTunes now.
Zola Jesus will be doing a ten day U.S. tour with Thirlwell and the Mivos Quartet and this fall.
