album cover for Zola Jesus Dangerous Days
Here’s a look at Zola Jesus’ music video for “Dangerous Days”, the first single from her album Taiga.
The video was shot in the actual taiga of the Hoh Rain Forest at Olympic National Park in western Washington State.
It’s directed by Timothy Saccenti, who has also worked with Phantogram and Depeche Mode. Besides the breathtaking scenery, the video employs imagery reminiscent of the nineties video game Myst. Her outfits were designed by Jenni Hensler and Jona Sees, a.k.a InAisce. “I love working with the both of them because we all share the same vision,” she said on her official Facebook page.
One noteworthy outfit that the artist, born Nika Rosa Danilova wears in the video is a goat wool cape that she insists has only ever been worn once before, by none other than legendary performance artist Marina Abramovic.
Zola Jesus will be touring select North American cities starting on June 14 in Brooklyn, NY.
