Lou Rhodes’ angelic voice has been a favorite of Big Sonic Heaven listeners since the mid 90’s. She has now put out a stunning cover of The xx’s dreamy 2012 tune “Angels”. Stripped down to acoustic guitar, it rivals the original version with its beauty. Rhodes tweeted on January 8 on her official Twitter page: “Just got an email from someone whose baby was born just after they heard ‘Angels’. Moments like that, I feel so blessed to do what I do.”
Rhodes has released three solo albums, the most recent one being 2010’s One Good Thing. She has also found time to write a children’s book The Phlunk, published in December 2012, with illustrations by Tori Elliott. It’s about a magical creature who can hear all children’s sounds from earth, even from outer space. A sequel, The Phlunk’s Worldwide Symphony, will be released in May.
In 2011 Lamb released their fifth album, aptly titled 5. Rhodes has a new solo album expected this spring, and a new Lamb record is in the works to be released either late 2014 or early 2015.
