    Hey DR,
I have a vivid memory of listening to BSH one summer night very late on Indie 103.1. I was driving east down Sunset and had to stop at the light at Virgil right where that little theatre is and a show was just letting out. There was a girl standing on the side walk smoking a cigarette and for some reason she looked up at me and we made eye contact and she just smiled. I got a jolt of something that shot up my spine. She was soooo cute. The song that was playing has haunted me ever since. It was a song by The Cure, mostly instrumental, and it was slow and grinding and whimsical. I have never been able to find that song anywhere. It’s as if it doesn’t exist except in my mind. Anyway, if you can fit it into the show could you play me one of those awesome, obscure Cure songs you are always coming up with? Thanks.
I love this weeks show…and I love finally having BSH back in the car. I drive an hour each way to get to my college so I can listen to one show a day. Perfect!

Great story James! Thanks. I’ll be sure to keep on digging out those great Cure songs.

Thanks for being a faithful listener!

Oh yeah, you mentioned you might consider uploading some older shows…Do it, please! I know you have some favourite shows stashed away around Big Sonic Heaven headquarters. You could create a “back catalogue” page on your site containing older shows that you thought were special. Remember…it’s in the laws of the Universe…the more BSH the better. James

It’s in the plans to eventually have an archive of old shows from the ’90’s & 2000’s. It’s just gonna take some time. It’s gonna be quite an undertaking since a lot of them are on cassette.

Thanks for uploading this week’s podcast in 320kbps! I love it! I’ve been listening to Big Sonic Heaven since 1998, the show got me through high school & college (when the show was off the air I made my own playlists of old shows and listened to them repeatedly) and it largely shaped my tastes in music growing up.

Now I’m living in Columbus OH for work and driving back and forth to Detroit often to visit friends. Listening to these podcasts on the 4 hour drive I take every week is just amazing. There’s so much new music! Can’t even tell you how great it is to have you back man. Keep these podcasts going! They make my long drives something to look forward to! Best part, I usually drive back Sunday night, so I’m often listening to the show around your old 10 pm – 2 am slot!

Just some random thoughts over the past few podcasts (I’ve listened to all except the past 3 shows, which I’ll be listening to this weekend on my drives)…

1 – New music is awesome, but I’ve been itching to hear some more Big Sonic Heaven classics

2 – You should do some theme shows like you did back in Detroit. Like the top10 bands/songs that made up Big Sonic Heaven to you (Vapour Trails was the #1 song if I remember correctly). Also the “Flashback show” where you played only stuff from the 80’s was really cool too. I was born in 1984 so I actually never heard any of those songs, very cool show.

3 – Big Sonic Heaven turned me into a huge fan of Dead Can Dance. I haven’t listened to the past 3 podcasts yet, but if you haven’t you need to play something off their new record. It’s just great, the production values for the whole thing are amazing. “Opium” jumped out to me as solid future Big Sonic Heaven material.

4 – Back in the day, certain albums would become staples of Big Sonic Heaven (Weekend Players, Splendor soundtrack). To me, if Fever Ray would have been released back in the day, that would have most certainly been a go-to album of the show. “Keep the Streets Empty for Me” is so perfect, very difficult to NOT think of Big Sonic Heaven or the long night drives I would take listening to the show back in the day whenever I hear it.

I could go on and on, but I should probably stop before this turns into a novel. Bottom line, I’m glad the show is back and I can’t tell you how happy I am to have these podcasts available, and in 320kbps now too!

Thanks for keeping the show alive, I’m loving every minute of it so far!

    Hey Cameron!

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll keep them in mind for future shows and maybe another Big Sonic Heaven flashback show too! Glad to keep you company on your long drives. Spread the good word!
