“I was always told that any artist that wanted to be taken seriously should never paint record sleeves.” —Robert Del Naja
Besides their music, Massive Attack has also been known for their album artwork, most of it created by 3D, a.k.a. Robert Del Naja. Before becoming a musician, Del Naja was a graffiti artist. A new art book showcasing Del Naja’s works, 3D and the Art of Massive Attack will be released on October 28. With over 400 pages, the book includes an extensive interview with Del Naja, photographs, cover artwork, paintings, and artist collaborations. For the ultimate Massive Attack fan, The Vinyl Factory’s Online Store is offering a special limited edition box set, which includes the book, an exclusive screen print signed by Del Naja, and a 12-inch vinyl with a previously unreleased track on the A-side and an etching on the B-side. Only 350 copies of this box set will be available, with each individually numbered and signed. The box set costs £350 (approximately $564 US). The book itself will also be released in the UK for £50 (approximately $80 US). It’s not known if it will be released in the US at this time. Click here for more information and to pre-order a copy of the box set.
